Animal watching

10th August

A lovely clear-blue skies day, and actually warm enough without coats. We decided to give the girls a rest from walking up hills & tour the coastal peninsula. We had a whale-watching trip booked for 12th August, but the weather was so good, it was a no brainer to go today instead. So once again we are pictured in coats, hats & gloves expecting a cold time at sea. Before taking the boat we visited the whale museum and, for the first time now really understand what a baleen plate is.

On the trip we saw (according to the guide) : minke whale; white nosed dolphins (who put on a brief show of leaping out of the water close to the boat after diving under it) & a humpback who obligingly displayed its fluke as it dived to get away from the annoying tourists.

Yes, we did have fish & chips for dinner, even after looking at the quayside catch

Never forget to guard your mur as well.

We have decided no need for us to go on holiday anymore. the 4 of you can do all the hard work while we relax in the armchair & enjoy all the scenery & highlights. You all look as if you are enjoying yourselves. Congratulations tothe deputy photographer, excellant pictures.
If you had gone to Scotland, apart from the biting miggies, you would have had lots of rain and flooding. Lots of weather warnings for Scotland.
