Hot & cold water

15th August

Cold again this morning, but not raining & not so much wind. Cary did a "quick" walk to the nearby volcanic crater of Strytur - walking 5Km in 1h15m, then running for about 2/3 of the way back in 1 hr. Very warm then. Did not have the camera with me, but it was bit misty. Reasonable view of the glacier before the cloud rolled in again.

Had a quick stroll around the thermal area (some pictures of baby geysers) below, before resuming a very long, desolate & very bumpy desert road to Gullfoss (see fosses page), then Geysir. Strokkur is the current performing water spout. The most impressive bit is the large blue-coloured dome of water just before it all bursts upwards.

Strokkur doing its thing (longer than might seem necessary, but we have seen triple blasts)
