Party time in Reykjavik - last day

20th August

Breakfast time: Oh look at all the runners on the seafront.  Its the Reykjavik Marathon. Hey the streets are thronging with people. They've closed the roads in the centre until midnight. Big festival day & the locals were out partying, all day. The new concert hall had it official opening - music, acrobats, singing on the streets around every corner. When we finally got away  - although tempted to see the fireworks at 11, we had to get up at 5am next morning, so finished with a calm walk along the bay at Vogar.

This is the last of the holiday snaps pages - but I will add a couple more on themes of transport, signs & textures in Iceland.

The scene of the crime, street art with street cones (the victim is an orange cone)

The family fun run

Don't eat whale

More street art

Learning Japanese calligraphy

They were dancing in the streets

And jumping for joy

Just having a throng

View from the top

But this is the type of view we're more likely to remember. Lava fields by the sea, with red-roofed buildings & a conical hill in the background.
