Arty iceland

This is a collection of pictures with a theme of textures and shapes.

The windows of the new concert hall in Reykjavik, from the inside

Weathered basaltic lava on tidal rocks

Fish head on a beach

Heart-shaped puddle in a car park

Twisted columnar basalt cliff - about 200m high

Glacier & glacial debris

Nearby sign say "According to tradition, there was a large farm known as Laufskalar on about this site but it was destroyed in the year 894 in the first recorded eruption of the volcano Katla"

Basalt hexagon about 1m across

About 3m high, the origin of these formations described approximately thus: a lava lake overlaid wet ground & water boiled up in places creating these chimneys. Then the lava lake drained away leaving these standing.
